Mid July is the time for all new Fall releases. Nordstrom is having some amazing beauty exclusives and gifts with purchase.

To name a few I am really in love with the NARS Fall collection, Shu Uemura and Chanel. They are all available at Sephora.com.

However, the collection I am loving most of all is the Chanel one.


I must say I am big fan of their 'Blush Duo Tweed Effect' blushes. With this collection they are releasing the one called Tweed Sienna, the idea being inspired by their classic tweed fabric.

When the announcement of the MAC Brush 131 was made alot of people compared this to Brush 187.

Brush 131 is a limited edition brush released with the Color Craft Collection. 187 is a permanent one.

This is my side by side comparison of them. As you can see from the picture brush 187 is much fuller and rounded than 131.


This is the top view of both brushes. The 131 is much flatter than 187.


In terms of application, 131 can be used for blush application as well as foundation. I tried it with Studio Sculpt foundation by MAC and it worked amazingly. It was also great in applying mineral blushes. However if you want to apply foundation using a stippling technique, then your best bet is 187.

Alot of people have also compared Brush 165 (limited edition) with 131.


Brush 165 is excellent for highlight application. It is more rounded than 131 at the top.

Barry M cosmetics is a rising star in UK. They are particularly famous for their dazzle dust (loose eyeshadows) and nail colors. It is a drugstore brand but great quality and very affordable. However, it is not available in USA.

This is my review of the collection.

I would say skip the lipglasses. it seems that it is the same bizarre packaging as sugarsweet collection. i just couldnt get the color out.

Lipsticks were nice if you dont have a million shades of pinks already. Madly creative was my favourite of them all.

131 is awesome. however i applied msf on one cheek using 165 and other using 131 and to be honest it was the same. So if you have 165 already, it might just work for you. $40 seems to be too much.

Eyeshadow quads were good but very glittery. My favourite was eccentricty. Overall, nothing you cant dupe from something from the permanent line.

They didnt have the blushes out yet.

MSFs were awesme. I am NC40 so porcelain pink wasnt for me. Sunny by nature could be a good bronzer. Cheeky bronze was.. blah!!!

Trios were my favourite out of the entire collection. I couldnt decide between Triple fusion or Smooth Merge. I think i might get both. Warm blend was abit dark so can be used as bronzer.

They dont release till Thursday so the MA just let me play with the testers which were not on display either. Still two more days to decide.. :)

The most i am looking forward to from the mac color craft collection is the 131 brush $40.
Although it was initially priced at $34, they released it as $40. Not a good move MAC.. my wallet hurts... :/ However, I went ahead and got it because it is limited edition and meant to be great for minerliased blush application. To be honest, It has lived upto the expectations. The bristles pick up the right amount of product and blend product onto skin really well. The brush is not as flat as I thought it would be in the pictures. As seen in picture below, the top is kind of oval, not rounded like 188 brush.

Overall, I really like this brush. Now I wish MAC also comes up with duo-fibre brush for 217. That would be awesome for mineralised eyeshadows. I hope MAC is listening.. hehe :)
