When the announcement of the MAC Brush 131 was made alot of people compared this to Brush 187.
Brush 131 is a limited edition brush released with the Color Craft Collection. 187 is a permanent one.
This is my side by side comparison of them. As you can see from the picture brush 187 is much fuller and rounded than 131.
This is the top view of both brushes. The 131 is much flatter than 187.
In terms of application, 131 can be used for blush application as well as foundation. I tried it with Studio Sculpt foundation by MAC and it worked amazingly. It was also great in applying mineral blushes. However if you want to apply foundation using a stippling technique, then your best bet is 187.
Alot of people have also compared Brush 165 (limited edition) with 131.
Brush 165 is excellent for highlight application. It is more rounded than 131 at the top.
